This can help families think about the way they communicate with each other. It is useful when there are lots of rows or the avoidance of conflict, to find ways of building on the familys’ own strengths.
Our Developmental Difficulties Service provides diagnostic assessments and further intervention for Autistic Spectrum Disorders including Asperger’s Syndrome. We also address Specific Learning Difficulties /Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Speech and Language Disorders and ADHD, ADD and many others.
Using play and art and drama to allow the child’s voice and concerns to be heard and worked through to promote resilience and emotional well being.
The Ashwood Practice, part of the Baker Duncan Partnership, Brookwood, Woking, Surrey Specialist Private Assessment and Treatment Services across the whole spectrum of psychological/mental health conditions and childhood developmental problems, including Aspergers Syndrome, Autism, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, ADHD and OCD. We offer a continuing service throughout childhood, adolescence and adulthood. The clinical problems we commonly encounter include depression, deliberate self-harm, anxiety - in all its forms, mood disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders and adjustments reactions in individuals and families in relation to traumatic seperation (including bereavement of parents, children and siblings) or other family crises such as divorce and domestic/family violence.
We have developed specialist expertise in assisting families who have adopted children with attachment problems and we have also set up a therapeutic re-parenting scheme to support foster-carers who are struggling with very challenging behaviour in younger children.
